The adventure begins...

Well, the adventure began over a month ago, and let me tell you...it's been quite an adventure.  **Teaser alert--big news at the end of the post, so jump ahead or skim through, but you won't want to miss this!**
  • The trip to Michigan, which started at 12:01am Tuesday April 15 went well.  I only had to stop twice to take naps (seeing as I only had 2 hours of 'sleep' in me!)
  • Ray (step-dad) is doing fine.  He was taken to the ER the Sunday before I got there and results haven't shown anything, but he's doing great.  Thanks for the prayers!
  • Mom and I headed to OKC with a stop in St. Louis on Thursday, April 17.  We had a rockin' good time and can say 'We survived the Quake of '08!'  Yep, April 18 was the earthquake felt across 9 states (or something crazy like that...5.7, I think, on Richter scale)
  • Had a great time in Oklahoma (April 18-25), though there just wasn't enough time to see everyone!  Got to visit family and many friends.  Was even in town to see Aranda rock out one night.  Good times! ;)
  • Tiffany (the Best Friend) and I headed out at 4:45am Friday, April 25 for our road trip to CA.  We planned things perfectly and stopped in Albuquerque to have lunch with her mom who was there visiting a friend.  It was good to get out of the car for a bit.
  • We landed that night in Vegas and hit the casino for a short time.  Didn't make out with enough to quit our day jobs, but we did leave with cash in our pockets!
  • Got to San Jose Saturday, April 26 with enough time to unload the car, freshen up and then headed to San Francisco for dinner with some friends.  Had a good time, even though we were both exhausted.
Life's been nothing but non-stop go-go-go since then.  Tiffany flew back to OK on April 30.  I still have a few boxes to unpack, though won't fully settle into my place as there are plans to move again in August as Lydia (former co-worker from InterVarsity in Madison, WI) is moving to the area.  We're planning on getting a place together and I'm looking forward to having a place with someone I know...and a girl, as I live with 3 guys right now (and it's great, actually!)

Now for the big news...I have a new job.  "Yeah, Karen...we know that. Isn't that why you moved to CA?"  No, I'm talking about an even NEWER job that starts Monday.  I know, crazy, right?
It's a long story, but I was recruited to work for Mashable
a news source for Social Networking and one of the top 10 blogs in the world.  Official title is "West Coast Events and Sponsorships" though I like to call myself the "Party Princess."  You can also call me Masher #12 (as I'm the 12th employee!)

Working with Noah was good and I was learning a lot, but it wasn't all I thought it was going to be.  We were trying to work through things, yet when this opportunity came to me (and I didn't seek it out...they came after me!) it was something I didn't think I could pass up.  I can't say too much about what's in store (because I never know who's reading this), but you can see and hear Pete, the 'big boss guy' talk about what's in store.   BTW-that's a horrible freeze frame they have of him...it's distorted or something.

So...that's the story up to this point.  Abbreviated, yes, but it gets you caught up.  My plan is to blog here as often as possible and I'd love to hear from you as you visit to keep up with me.  So, let's get started...leave a comment and let me know something exciting you've done over the past month or so.  I want to know!

*Once I find my camera, I'll add some pics here.**
